Copiers and printers that return to Ricoh under the leasing program are inspected, disassembled and begin an extensive renewal process, which includes replacing key components and updating software before entering the market under the GreenLine label. benefiting from the same guarantee program as completely new machines.

Ricoh's CometCircleTM program, introduced in 1994, is based on the belief that all parts of Ricoh products should be designed and manufactured in such a way that they can be reused or recycled. Ricoh's management uses the CometCircleTM as a real tool for planning its portfolio of products and activities. It is on this basis that Ricoh has established the GreenLine label as a concrete expression of its recirculation activity, with priority reserved for recycling and short-loop reuse.

Ricoh's objectives were to reduce the use of new resources by 25% by 2020 and by 87.5% by 2050 compared to the level of 2007.

The benefits of working in a "short loop", extended use and reuse, are numerous for Ricoh and range from strengthening its product portfolio with less expensive models to serve a greater number of customers, to making its more competitive offer by mixing new equipment with others from recirculation.

This new relationship with products in use by customers generates additional results: optimizing the operating time of devices at customers' premises and thus generating revenue; generate additional revenue and margins by selling devices more than once; contribute significantly to the conservation of resources. In addition to reducing the consumption of new resources, Ricoh's objectives were to reduce the use or prepare for the replacement of materials that are at high risk of depletion by 2050, such as oil, copper or chromium. Copiers and printers returning from Ricoh's leasing program are inspected, dismantled, and go through an extensive renewal process — including key components replacement and software update — before re-entering the market under the GreenLine label with the same warranty scheme that is applied to new devices .

to remember.

The customer does not take ownership of the printer; he is more of a user and he usually pays on a "per page printed" basis. In addition, designing for remanufacturing allows efficient use and reuse of different components, thereby retaining their intrinsic value.
